Alli is a popular over the counter product. Their big claim to fame is the fact that Alli is the first FDA approved over the counter medication for weight loss. They are not the first to try this particular approach by any means. They are just the first to really become so public. Actually, fen-phen would have been the first big thing to use a prescription for over the counter use. Of course, fen-phen was banned, using prescription Phentermine. But Alli claims to be safe and effective and you can count on it, because the FDA says so.
What We Like About Alli

What We Don’t Like About Alli
The studies on orlistat, the main ingredient in Alli, showed that users lost about 5-10% of their body fat in a year. That is not 5-10% more than the other dieters, that is not 5-10% body fat, that is 5-10% of their weight total in a year! Why does it take that long to lose that weight! Most dieters who follow a healthy diet and exercise plan could lose that in 1-3 months depending on their personal body types among other things. Those who are overweight actually lose weight faster. This being said, it requires a no fat diet, and ultimately speaking, if you don’t follow a no fat diet, it keeps you honest. Many have reported needing new pants, wearing adult diapers, and otherwise suffering serious embarrassment because of Alli.
Our Final Conclusion
We would not recommend using Alli. It may seem appealing at first. After all, we all like the idea of regulation and everything else. But unfortunately enough, Alli does not have the right stuff to actually produce results to go along with it. It will just cause those nasty side effects and unfortunately nothing else.
